CrowdStrike has signed a definitive agreement to acquire offensive AI security company Dreadnode, a move designed to help enterprises identify vulnerabilities in artificial intelligence models and autonomous agents before attackers exploit them.

[Announced at Fal.Con Europe on Nov. 3](https://www.crowdstrike.com/en-us/press-releases/crowdstrike-to-acquire-dreadnode-advance-ai-trust/?ref=cybrsecmedia.com), the acquisition will bring Dreadnode's automated AI security testing capabilities into CrowdStrike's Falcon platform. The objective is to make offensive testing a continuous part of AI development and deployment, rather than waiting until systems are operating in production to discover weaknesses.

The deal also reflects a broader shift in cybersecurity: As organizations deploy AI agents capable of accessing sensitive information, executing commands and making decisions, security vendors are racing to develop protections for systems that behave differently from traditional software.

Financial terms were not officially disclosed. The Wall Street Journal reportedly valued the Dreadnode transaction at approximately $95 million. The acquisition is expected to close during CrowdStrike's fourth quarter of fiscal 2027, which ends Jan. 31, 2027.

## Bringing offensive AI testing into enterprise security

Dreadnode specializes in using offensive techniques to identify weaknesses in AI systems. Its technology simulates attacks against models, applications and agents, allowing organizations to discover how their AI deployments might be manipulated.

The company's testing platform supports more than 100 attack strategies, including prompt injection, jailbreaks, multi-turn attacks and techniques targeting autonomous agents.

Users can describe testing objectives in natural language, with the platform automatically executing attack scenarios and evaluating the results.

Findings are prioritized by severity and mapped to established frameworks, including MITRE ATLAS, the OWASP Top 10 for large language models and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.

CrowdStrike plans to integrate those findings with Falcon Guardian, its AI security offering, so vulnerabilities discovered during testing can inform protections once systems are deployed.

Dreadnode's researchers will also join CrowdStrike's Cyber Superintelligence Lab, contributing offensive AI expertise to the company's SafeMind security models.

Automated AI Security Testing is expected to become generally available through Falcon during CrowdStrike's fourth quarter of fiscal 2027.

## Why traditional security testing is no longer enough

The acquisition addresses a growing problem for security teams: AI systems do not always behave predictably.

Traditional application security testing generally examines software with relatively consistent execution paths. Generative AI models, by contrast, can produce different responses to similar inputs, while autonomous agents can interact with external tools, retrieve information and initiate actions.

Those capabilities introduce attack surfaces that conventional vulnerability scanners and penetration testing methodologies were not designed to evaluate.

An attacker might manipulate an agent through malicious instructions embedded in retrieved documents, for example, causing it to disclose sensitive information or perform unauthorized operations.

CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz framed the challenge around the speed of enterprise AI adoption.

"Enterprises are deploying AI faster than they can prove it is secure," Kurtz said in the acquisition announcement.

Dreadnode CEO Brad Palm similarly emphasized the importance of testing AI systems from an attacker's perspective before they enter production.

## A broader shift toward securing autonomous AI

CrowdStrike's acquisition comes as cybersecurity companies expand beyond using AI to detect threats and increasingly focus on protecting AI itself.

The company also announced plans to acquire Fiddler AI, whose technology provides visibility into AI agent behavior and decision-making. Together, the acquisitions would give CrowdStrike capabilities spanning pre-deployment testing, operational monitoring and runtime protection.

The strategy reflects an emerging requirement for enterprise security programs: Organizations must understand not only whether AI systems are vulnerable, but also what those systems are doing and whether their actions remain within authorized boundaries.

It also signals growing convergence between offensive security research, AI governance and traditional security operations.

For CISOs, the implication is significant. As AI agents become integrated into business processes, security assessments can no longer be limited to infrastructure, applications and human identities. The behavior and permissions of autonomous systems must also be evaluated continuously.

The acquisition's ultimate goal is to make that testing scalable enough to keep pace with enterprise AI adoption.

Whether CrowdStrike can successfully integrate Dreadnode's capabilities remains to be seen. But the direction is clear: Securing AI is becoming a central part of enterprise cybersecurity, rather than a specialized discipline operating on the sidelines.
